THE EXPERIENCE

THIS ISN'T A RECITAL.

IT'S A PLACE TO MAKE MUSIC.

There's a big difference between practicing a song and experiencing what happens when you play that same music with other musicians.

You have to listen.

You have to lock in with the groove.

You have to respond to what the other musicians are doing.

You might take a solo, adjust an arrangement, work through a transition, recover from a mistake, or discover that the song starts going somewhere you didn't expect.

That’s what the Live Room is about.

Our groups come in with music they've already been developing, but the goal isn't to perform everything perfectly and walk off the stage.

We'll play the songs, workshop the music, improvise, experiment, make adjustments, and try things again.

It's an opportunity to take what you've been developing in lessons and classes and put it into a real musical setting.

STUDIO CLASS MEMBERS

ALREADY IN A STUDIO CLASS?

YOUT BAND HAS A LIVE ROOM SESSION.

If you're currently participating in one of our Studio Classes, your regular group already has its own assigned Live Room block.

Between now and the event, we'll continue developing the music you've been working on together so that when you walk into the Live Room, you're not starting from scratch.

You'll already know the songs.

You'll already know the musicians.

And we'll be able to use our Live Room time to go deeper—tightening up the music, improvising, taking solos, experimenting with arrangements, and seeing what happens when we put everything together.

When you register, RSVP for the sessions you're planning to attend. You're also welcome to watch the other groups throughout the day.

PRIVATE - LESSON STUDENTS

NOT IN A STUDIO CLASS?

YOU CAN STILL BE

A PART OF THE LIVE ROOM.

If you're currently taking private lessons, you have two ways to participate.

COME EXPERIENCE IT.

Come watch the groups, meet other musicians from the studio, see how we work through the music together, and get a feel for what playing in a Studio Class is actually like

INTERESTED IN PLAYING? LET US KNOW.

When you register, you can request an opportunity to sit in with one of the groups.

We'll consider your instrument, experience level, the repertoire each group is preparing, and the available spots.

If there's an appropriate fit, we'll coordinate a song with you and your instructor beforehand so you have time to prepare.

Requesting to play does not automatically guarantee a playing spot. We want to make sure each sit-in works musically for both you and the group.

=But if you've been curious about what it's like to take

what you're learning privately and use it with other musicians,

this is a great opportunity to give it a try.

Come prepared to make music - not to be perfect.

During the Live Room, we may:

· Play through songs the group has prepared

· Work on grooves, transitions, dynamics, and arrangements

· Open up sections for solos and improvisation

· Experiment with different musical ideas

· Stop, make an adjustment, and try something again

· Practice listening and responding to the other musicians

· Learn how to recover when something unexpected happens

· Capture some great musical moments along the way

musicians getting together to play, rehearse, experiment,

and make music than a traditional student recital.

HOW THIS LIVE ROOM WORKS

YOU DON'T HAVE

TO BE PLAYING

TO BE PART OF IT.

Some of the most valuable moments at a Live Room happen when you're simply in the room with other musicians.

Watch another group.

Listen to someone take a solo.

See how a band recovers when something goes wrong.

Meet students you've never played with before.

Talk music between sessions.

Or just grab something to eat and hang out.

We'll have refreshments, snacks, drinks, water, and coffee available throughout the day.

You're also encouraged to bring your friends or family members. Guests don't need to register separately—just let us know approximately how many people you're bringing when you complete the registration form.

Come for one session, several sessions, or spend as much of the day with us as you'd like.
